Why We're Unplugging Motherhood

Building Our Mum Squad

Motherhood Unplugged UK is the result of many conversations (some of them wine fuelled) between the two of us about what an absolute minefield motherhood can be.

What buggy do I get?  Do I need a moses basket?  How many layers do I dress him in?  Can I drink if I'm breastfeeding?  Then if those weren't enough you've got "why does my body look like this", "I can't get my head right", "why can't I stop crying", "am I a bad mum?"  “Who am I now?” And so much more, all of varying degrees of seriousness but still very real and at the time, totally mind boggling.

When Sara made Kim take the boys to an outdoor panto.  In the rain.

The more we spoke the more we realised we both had the same idea.  Creating a community of mums who share their experiences, break down barriers, and help us all to unplug the truth - a safe non judgemental place to share.  We've both dabbled in blog writing but it all started making more sense the more we realised we could do it together.

And that's our point.  Together we can do so much and hope that you'll join us on this adventure - come and join our mum squad!

Keep an eye on our Instagram, @motherhood_unplugged_uk,  as we delve into different topics each week such as pregnancy, hypnobirthing, weaning and more.  Share your stories, ideas and experiences and help us spread a bit of love for all the mums out there.

A bit more about Sara

Sara lives in Warwickshire in a house full of boys, with the exception of the girl cat.  Ben (4), Jake (1) and John (44).  Not forgetting Logan (scampy tabby cat), Junior (emotionally unstable grey and white cat) and Maisie (a moody tortoise shell - the other female).  She's embarking on mental health awareness training and is a mental health champion at work.

She's also a huge advocate of making wellbeing a priority, not just for mums/women but for everyone. Constantly trying to lose 3 stone and run further than 3K without giving up and probably drinks too much wine, malbec if you're asking.  Sara is a work in progress and she's trying to be ok with that.

A bit more about Kim

Kim is Mum to Callum (4), Ethan (2), Buckley aka Dyson the chocolate lab, and also married to a Jon (no H). No wonder we became friends eh?! Pining after some female hormones to join the brood, always on the lookout for the perfect girl pup to sway the boys into agreeing to expand our gang.

A massive advocate of mental health after having a breakdown in 2015 and finally finding happiness again through a mix of therapy, fresh air, putting one foot in front of the other and a big dose of hope. Recently trained as a perinatal mental health peer supporter and passionate about all things motherhood. On the subject of wine mine’s a Rioja.
